Interesting Fact
After 58 years no more new VW Beetle (The orginal one of course) will be produced. The final number of Beetle's produced 21,529,464. A very interesting article about the same on NYTimes.
Definition of Pain
Yesterday was listening to an interview with Tyler Hamilton, another American riding in the tour-de-france. Everybody knows that he finished most of the tour with a double fractured collar bone (OucH!!!!) He was talking about how hard it was in the beginning, then he made a very interesting statement. He said that he just accepted pain and he got used to it. One can accept pain but what do you mean by getting used to pain??? After 10 days his body got so exhausted with pain that he could not even stand up :-O. After this he had a rest day so he slept for the whole day and next day he won the stage. That was just an amazing feat!!!
BBC was running a poll about the craziest sportsmen and their crazy feats of all time. The most painful sport I thoght was Rugby. Here's an excerpt about the blood and gore from this gladiatorian sport from BBC:
New Zealand second row Colin Meads could almost warrant a section on his own. His most famous exploit was refusing to come off against Eastern Transvaal in 1970 despite breaking an arm - his own, for once.
But pride of place in the red badge of courage stakes must go to fellow All Black Wayne Shelford. In 1986, a French pack gave the number eight a most fearsome shoeing that left him with a concussion, a few less teeth and, wait for it, a ripped scrotum.
Unperturbed by the sight of one of his testicles hanging out, Shelford instructed the physio to stitch him up on the side of the pitch so he could play on.
Anywho, one more trivia Bob Hope the most rich, acclaimed comedian was using 13 writers to write jokes and one liners for him for a 30 min show waste of human capital or what??:-)
